It has been the most amazing second day here at Rockley Point! After an early start for a delicious breakfast – sausages, beans and toast – it was time for the dreaded room inspection. Generally, there were five tidy rooms bar one or two odd socks here and there! The teddies were also set up for a great day too, including some excellent paddleboarding of their own!

We then headed to the beach for our day’s activities. First of all, we played a game of Fishy Fishy Sharky Sharky – a bit like Bulldog but with seaweed! Then we split into our two groups and took to the water.

One group tried their hand at windsurfing. They played some games to practice their balance. “Wobbleboarding”, where someone tried to wobble the board enough to knock someone into the water, proved to be hilarious. With very little wind, it was tricky to windsurf successfully but Year 6’s perseverance with the sails up was fantastic.

Meanwhile, the second group took to the waters in some kayaks. Once they got the hang of steering (most of us anyway…), they tried some games of their own, all a bit like “Tag” but with oars! They also floated gently with the tide to a beach where the children spent a lot of their time splashing Mr Pavey (thank you again, Year 6!). Needless to say, the wettest of the group were not the children!

One thing we’ve all particularly enjoyed so far is the food! After a tasty lunch, we swapped around and tried out the other of today’s activities. We are all so proud of the fact that every member of Year 6 have all spent two hours out at sea on their kayaks – for some of us, an incredible achievement!

Some very tired children made their way back to camp for a shower and a nap (yes, really!) before tea. Tonight, it was some delicious sweet ‘n’ sour chicken followed by chocolate eclairs! You are spoiling us, Rockley!
Once again, we made the walk back to the beach and we took part in the Rockley Quiz. We enjoyed a few different rounds: sports, Disney, Rockley and theme tunes. A few of us returned with sore throats after a delightful singalong of Let It Go (and some of the girls were a little worried that Mr Pavey knew so many of the words…). Congratulations to the joint winning teams – hope you enjoyed your Maltesers!

Nearly time for bed! We returned to base, donned our pyjamas and gathered for one last time today to reflect on an incredible day. To have had everyone take part in the windsurfing and kayaking in their own way has made us all so, so proud. You are fantastic, Year 6!
Most definitely time for some zzzz….
