Year 6 at Rockley Point: Day One

Wow! What an amazing first day! After our bus journey through the beautiful English countryside, we arrived at our most luxurious accommodation. We were greeted by our instructors and were shown to our rooms before heading down to the beach for a spot of lunch.

After lunch, we donned our wetsuits and headed to the water for the first of our many activities this week. One group took to the water on mega stand up paddleboards, the other group built their own rafts. Mr Pavey, who joined the paddle boarding group, spent more time in the sea than on the board – thank you, Year 6…

The other group showed amazing teamwork to construct two rafts. They tested their seaworthiness, pushing them from the beach and out to sea although they didn’t make it quite as far out as the paddleboarders!

We returned to our accommodation for a spot of dinner – some delicious pasta followed by jam donuts or fruit salad! Yum!

We then headed back to the beach for our evening activities. Tonight, it was volleyball and rounders! The sun set and we descended into darkness. It was fair to say that rounders and volleyball took on a very different complexion in failing light…!

We then prepared for bed, reflecting on what was an amazing first day here at Rockley Point. We shared what we were proud of achieving today and who we wanted to thank and celebrate for their achievements today. Can’t wait for tomorrow!
