Supporting Our Service Families

Meet Our Service Champion

At St Michael’s School, we are proud to support children from military families and recognise the unique experiences they bring to our school community.

Our Service Champion is Mrs Louise Jamieson, our School Bursar, who works closely with families connected to the Armed Forces. Mrs Jamieson and the whole staff team are here to ensure that every child feels welcomed, understood, and fully supported throughut their time with us.

The Service Champion’s role includes:

  • Being a friendly point of contact for service families
  • Supporting children who may experience frequent moves or parental deployment
  • Helping pupils and their families settle quickly into St Michael’s School and it’s community
  • Working with teachers to provide tailored support where needed
  • Promoting understanding of military life across the school community

We understand that service life can bring both exciting opportunities and unique challenges, and our Service Champion is here to help every step of the way.

Working Together

We value the strong partnership between school and home and are committed to working closely with our service families.  We would like to know more about each service family’s specific circumstance so we can understand how best to support the children in school.  We therefore would appreciate it if service families could complete our online form when joining the school and when circumstances change, such as deployments or postings.  If you would like to speak to Mrs Jamieson, our Service Champion, or find out more about the support available, please contact the school office.

Together, we ensure that every child feels valued and supported whilst embracing our school values of love, honesty and respect.
