Rowan’s Ancient Maya Experience!

Over the last two days we have delved into our new topic: The Ancient Maya. Yesterday, we came into class to be met with sights, sounds and smells of the Maya. Our classroom was dark; eerie music filled the room and the smell of cocoa and incense wafted around. We examined lots of different images and artefacts in order to begin making predictions about the civilization we are about to study. Then today, we hopped on a coach to Oxford and spent the morning at Pitt Rivers Museum where we had a fascinating time investigating and using real historical Mayan artefacts to find out more about our amazing new topic.

After lunch we even got to spend time wandering around the amazing Natural History Museum where there were so many awesome and intriguing things to see. From a T-Rex skeleton to a 4.5 billion year old meteor, we really were filled with a sense of awe and wonder about the amazing planet we live on!
