The rain began around 10.30 last night and it has continued throughout the day! However, this did not stop our intrepid explorers from making the most of Day 3! 2 groups headed off canoeing, developing their skills whilst following a 5km route along the Monmouthshire and Brecon canal – the scenery was stunning despite the torrential rain! Children worked brilliantly in teams taking on different roles in the canoes and we had particular fun navigating a narrow and pitch-black tunnel along the way. We then finished our adventures with some celebratory jumps into the canal! (Sorry about the quality of some of the photos – we had very wet cameras today!) Meanwhile, another group headed off to Eglwys Faen caves (Welsh translation: Church Rock) to try to conquer fears of being underground in small spaces and darkness. Most of the tunnels and caverns were muddy and wet due to the rainy weather yet children showed great determination and courage, supporting one another in this unfamiliar and challenging environment! Our instructors waxed lyrical about our children today, complimenting their have-a-go attitude and the perseverance and team spirit shown in really challenging conditions! Hot showers and a hearty meal were well-deserved at the end of another epic day!
