It has been an amazing first day at Braeside for Rowan class. We are so, SO proud of every child, who have supported one another to the max, shown endless resilience and pushed themselves above and beyond what they thought they could do. We started our trip with the town trail, making our way around the town of Devizes, answering questions about the town – we particularly liked the alleyway with the special dip for sewage to be thrown out of the window! In the afternoon, some of us walked down to the Kennet & Avon canal to canoe. The children quickly learnt how to work as a team, managing the complexities of steering and navigating the busy canal. The other group tried both the leap of faith and the climbing wall. After a little bit of anxiety from some, every child did an amazing job getting their feet off the ground and at least some way up the very tall pole. In the evening, after a delicious dinner, we tried the night line. In the growing dark, we made our way around Braeside’s wood, using the rope to stay up right on a very steep slope. The blindfolds came out too and the children were incredible friends, guiding one another around the course. The day ended with a delicious hot chocolate and a chance to reflect on the amazing day we have had. Well done Rowan Class, what an incredible first day!
