It has been another awesome day at Braeside! The day began with a lovely breakfast (croissants!) before the dreaded room inspectors paid their visit. A few interesting smells and the odd stray sock aside, the room inspectors were generally quite impressed! We then prepared to head out on a walk to Oliver’s Castle, learning how to use a map and compass to navigate the countryside surrounding Devizes. The walk was tough going at times, with a steep hill or two to climb and a couple of boggy stretches. We enjoyed a lunch looking out across the Wiltshire countryside, reenacted a Civil War battle before sliding down the hill to stop at a spring to enjoy a “spa day!” In the evening, after a fish and chip dinner, we headed out for a campfire. The whole of Devizes heard our songs and our laughter as we shared songs, jokes and stories. The day finished once again with a delicious hot chocolate and a chance to reflect on the amazing day we have had. Rowan can be very proud of their determination and the way in which they pushed themselves over such a long distance on our walk. There were some very, very tired children this evening!
