Biodiversity in the church yard with Hazel class

Hazel class had a very exciting morning exploring biodiversity in the churchyard.

We explored the moth traps to discover which species of moths visited the church over night. We also explored the ink traps to see which small mammals were visiting the church too. We used identification keys to compare the footprints and find out which animals had left their footprint behind.

The we explored under rocks to see which invertebrates were hiding in the church yard.

Our biodiversity learning was then linked to our religious teachings. The painted pebbles revealed a verse from Genesis which teaches how important it is to look after the world God has given us.
