Weekly Post – 17th January 2025

St Michael’s Weekly Post

17th January 2025

What a busy week! The classrooms have been filled with delicious smells and culinary delights – Acorn class have been making pancakes inspired by their current book Mr Wolf’s pancakes and Oak class chopped, prepared and cooked their own curries!

Cherry and Elder classes have been enjoying a wonderful trip to Bristol today, starting the day off learning all about orchestras with the Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra. The interactive concert was themed around the sea and how the oceans have ignited musical imaginations. The children then headed to the Bristol Aquarium to have a guided tour relating to the sea and aquatic life. A brilliant time has been had by all!

Oak class also headed out today, to Marlborough St Mary’s Church to their current ‘Life Exhibition’, all about the life of Christ. The Life exhibition is a multi-media experience designed for primary school children which complements and works alongside existing RE teaching. The children thoroughly enjoyed the experience.

Education Friday – 24th January

We hope you will join us in St Michael’s Church at 8:50am on Friday 24th January for a special service to celebrate education past and present, giving thanks to those who gave us this start in life. Our celebration assembly will be incorporated into this. All are welcome.

Music Concert

There will be a music concert on Monday 10th February. This will be a chance for Cherry class to showcase their cornet skills and for other children who have individual music lessons in school to show you what they have been learning. The concert will take place at St Michael’s Church at 2pm.

Playtimes

Please note we have temporarily closed the field due to weather conditions and the sheer amount of mud making it unsafe to play on. We have put provisions in place throughout different areas around the school to make the most of their playtimes until it dries up a bit – thank you for the children’s cooperation on this.

Work place donation schemes
If you work for a big corperation such as Vodaphone, Virgin, HSBC or similar that might offer grants/donations to charities or schools, please do get in touch with the office to see how we might be able to secure funding for our school. Thank you.
