Rowan Class Forest School Day!

Today, Rowan Class spent the day in the forest and what a fantastic day it was!

We started the day together around the log circle, playing a game that encouraged us to answer thoughtful questions. Afterwards, some children got busy practising their fire-lighting skills and successfully lit the ghillie kettle ready for hot chocolate. Others explored Hapa Zome, an ancient Japanese art form that translates as ‘leaf dyeing’, and created some truly beautiful artwork. Some children were keen to practise their whittling skills, while others enthusiastically dug and built a base beneath the large fallen tree!

After lunch, we played a great teamwork game using sticks. The challenge was to hold the sticks up while moving from one to the next without dropping them! It required lots of teamwork and concentration, and proved quite tricky at times! Next, we lit the fire again, ready to make elderflower fritters. These were a huge success, with some children enjoying second and even third helpings!

We ended the day with a wonderful pantomime performance put on by a group of children, which everyone thoroughly enjoyed. A big thank you to Mrs Maslin for leading such a lovely day in the forest!
