What an amazing first day! We set off bright and early and enjoyed a singsong on the way down – some more tunefully than others…
On arrival, we found out who were our roommates for the week, dropped off our bags and made the short walk down to the beach. First on the agenda today: kayaking for some, raft building for others. Mr Pavey, much to the delight of the others, was the first to be drenched when the kayak capsized! The raft builders also found it tricky keeping dry as knots came undone, barrels drifted away and pontoons disappeared…
After lunch, we swapped over. Mercifully, it turned out each groups’ talents lay in their second activity. One group enjoyed some very exciting raft races while the kayaks seemed to sail off into the horizon.
We returned to the lodge for some time in our rooms before dinner. On the menu tonight was some delicious pasta bolognese!
This evening, we headed to the beach for some more activities. First, we took part in a game of foot rounders, taking delight in catching Miss James out before a game of Chaos-It to finish our time on the beach.
It was then back to the lodge, time to don pyjamas and spend a last few moments reflecting on what an amazing day we had. It was lovely to hear how proud we all were of each other and to share what amazing things we had all done. Well done, Year 6!
