If You Go Down To The Woods Today…..

Yesterday, Elder Class went on a wonderful trip to Savernake Forest!

Over the past few weeks, Elder Class have been learning all about the Amazon Rainforest. We have learned about all its unique layers, the people and animals that live there and the important role it plays. With all this exciting learning, we were inspired to explore our very own local forest – Savernake!

As soon as we arrived, we were keen to go and explore! We climbed trees, found some truly amazing fungi and toadstools and hunted for conkers and sweet chestnuts. Afterwards, we went off in small groups to explore how the forest is used and to take surveys from people passing by. We asked them lots of questions about why they use the forest, how often they visit and if they would change or add anything. It was very interesting!

We then set off for a long walk around the forest together, learning all about its history and passing by some beautiful ancient oak trees, before stopping for a well deserved rest and lunch!

Take a look at some of the pictures of our forest adventures below!
