Hazel Class had a fantastic first visit of the year to the forest….. the sun shone on us and everyone was very enthusiastic and eager to explore the woods.
Over the next few weeks we shall be focusing on habitats and we discussed what we thought lived in the woods, a great start as they mentioned, foxes, hedgehogs, slugs, snails, squirrels and birds. The children were keen to use the butter knives to peel willow which is a great start to knife skills, whilst others relaxed in the hammocks, played on the swings and helped to finish the new den.
Children also started to use the flint and steel to spark and, hopefully, eventually light the cotton wool.
We finished the session with a well-deserved hot chocolate!
