Oh how we’ve missed class trips! What a fantastic day we had over at Ramsbury Estate… We started the day at Bridge Farm, finding out about the crops grown on the estate. We were given a tour of the farmyard, looking at the machinery used to harvest the crops and we were shown the process of crops going from field to fork by a local farmer! Next, we jumped in a trailer for a tractor ride and we weighed our whole class on the weigh-bridge! After that, we walked into the wilderness where we had a picnic lunch and enjoyed the afternoon investigating a wild flower meadow. We used nets and pooters to find minibeasts and used ID cards to find out what they were. Hunting for fossils was great fun and super-interesting too! We recorded our findings in the nature journals we created and if that wasn’t enough, we made bread on an open fire from the wheat we found out about in the morning and we made butter too! Hester and Amelie provided us with a wonderfully fitting end to our adventure by reading out a quite brilliant poem they had written, inspired by our day in the great outdoors!
