On Monday, Acorn Class learnt about the wildlife in our churchyard. First, we looked closely at different types of moths that Mrs Best had collected overnight. Around the churchyard there were tunnels with cat food, so we were detectives hunting for animal footprints – we saw hedgehog prints and cat prints. We filled a Longworth trap to make a cosy home for a mouse or other mammal. Sadly the traps hidden around the space were empty. Finally we found out about habitat loss for bees and butterflies as so many of our wild flowers meadow have been lost in the last few decades. What a lovely and interesting morning, thank you so much to Mrs Best for organising it!
