St. Michael’s Weekly Post – 24th September 2021

24th September 2021

This week all our key stage 2 have enjoyed exciting trips and Oak Class have been away a whole week on a residential trip to Rockley. Cherry and Elder class had a brilliant day on the beach and were so fortunate to have beautiful weather.  Rowan class experienced the exciting exhibits at the Pitt Rivers Museum.  We are so fortunate that the children are now able to learn outside of the school building again, we really feel these experiences are so valuable and children will take their learnings back into the class room.

Celebration Assembly – Friday 1st October 2.40pm

Parent Evening – Tuesday 12th and Wednesday 13th October

This year parents evening will take place on 12th and 13th October.  These will be bookable via the Weduc app and parents will have an option of attending face to face or via a phone call.  More details to follow.

Harvest Festival

Once again we are joining with the church to support Swindon Food Bank this harvest.  Children are invited to bring tins or dried products and leave them in collection boxes at the school gates from Monday 6th October as their harvest gift.   Last year our community gave so generously and we would love to be able to do the same this year.  We are celebrating harvest at school on Wednesday 20th October in St Michael’s Church – Parents are very welcome to join us! Attached is a letter from Aldbourne Churches Together with details regarding the Church appeal.

Change in TD Days

Next year to celebrate the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee there is an extended weekend planned in June.  As this falls over the end of term holiday, at the beginning of June, Wiltshire Council have selected Monday 25th July for children and teachers to take an additional day off.  As the 25th July was a planned TD day we will be moving our TD day to 18th February.

Carbon Neutral Aldbourne

The Willows After School club has been busy this week making bug hotels for the Carbon Neutral Aldbourne ‘Good to Grow’ event on Saturday (further detail attached). Carbon Neutral Aldbourne is celebrating local food. Join them in the Community Garden on Saturday 25th September between 2 – 4pm.  Activities include: Press your own apple juice, fruit and veg cakes, jam, jellies and chutney tasting, bug hotel installation, garlic planting and a surplus veg swap.
