St Michael’s Weekly Post – 21st April 2023

21st April 2023

This week we have been thankful for the lovely weather as several classes have been exploring the local area.  Rowan Class walked from school, along the Four Barrows and all the way to Liddington Warren Farm.  At the end of the walk, they enjoyed a talk from Mr Ford on crop production. Thank you, Mr Ford.

Cherry and Elder classes have explored the village with Aldbourne Heritage Society to understand the history of local buildings and areas, with a particular focus on how entertainment has changed over the years. We are so grateful to the Aldbourne Heritage Society for sharing local history with the children. Click on the photo for more detail on our School Blog.

Outstanding Payments

Can we please ask all parents to check Weduc Payments and pay any outstanding money. Thank you.

If you feel you are struggling to make any payments, please speak to Mrs Hamilton, in confidence.

Brass Ensemble will take place on Wednesday next week, due to the school closure on Thursday.  Can children please bring their instruments on Wednesday.

Children Walking Home/Youth Club

As a reminder, if your child is in Years 5 or 6 and you are comfortable for them to walk home or to Youth Club after school, can you please email admin@stmichaelsalbourne.co.uk to confirm this, if you haven’t done so already.

Message from the PTA:

Bag2school – Please have a rummage around your homes for spare clothes, bags, shoes, soft toys that can be donated and earn the school some money.  Please bring your donations to school by 9am on Monday 10th May and drop them off by the front gate.   Unfortunately, we are unable to store any bags before the collection date. The more we give, the more money is raised for the school.  Further detail attached.

Messages from St Michael’s Church:

Thank you to those who attended the Easter service and contributed £34.22, which is being added to the takings from the Churches Together “Soup ‘N Pud Lunch” in aid of the Christian Aid Earthquake Appeal.  The collections at school services are given to charities, as a shared effort between church and school, on behalf of others who are less fortunate than we are.

Coronation Service – Please find details attached regarding the Coronation Service on the 7th May at 10:30am.

Plant/Cake/Produce Sale – Please find details attached regarding the Sale on the 7th May at 11am.
