St. Michael’s Weekly Post – 19th November 2021

19th November 2021

Today Kennet house ran a superb House Day, raising money for Children in Need.  The House Captains organised games including, one armed golf and “where’s Pudsey?” as well as choreographing a dance routine which would be good enough for Strictly.  Thank you to all those that have made donations to this great cause.  If you haven’t yet donated and you would like to, please follow this link.

Individual school photographs

On Monday 22nd November Tempest Photography will be taking individual photographs of the children. Children in Hazel class and Elder class are to come to school in their uniform and bring their Forest School clothes/PE kit with them to change into after their photos.

Covid-19 Update

Thank you for all your support during these challenging times.  We are encouraged to see that we have no new positive Covid-19 cases in school.  As a reminder, if your child has ANY of the following Covid-19 symptoms they should get a PCR test and isolate until the results are received: high temperature, new continuous cough and/or loss or change in normal sense of taste or smell.

Following advice from Public Health we will continue to not have whole school assemblies at the current time.  We will also continue to monitor the situation and proceed cautiously with our activities.

In pre Covid-19 times, St. Michael’s was very fortunate to have a strong pool of volunteers. People who didn’t necessarily have children at school but had time that they “donated” to us. This may have been on a weekly, bi weekly or much less frequent basis. These people have made a difference and enhanced our children’s learning.

We are now looking to welcome volunteers back to school from Monday and we’re always keen to accept more volunteers. If you would like to volunteer please contact the school office via admin@stmichaelsaldbourne.co.uk.

Please note, we are asking that volunteers undertake a lateral flow test and have their results before coming into the building on each visit, please.

ELSA Forest School & Outdoor Learning Group

Unfortunately due to staff illness we will not be able to run the ELSA Forest School and outdoor learning groups (for those invited) for the time being.  This does not impact class Forest School sessions.

Christingle Service – Friday 26th November

St Michael’s Church will be holding a Christingle Service in place of Celebration Assembly on Friday 26th November at 2:15pm.  The children in school will be watching the service live via Zoom and parents can also view the service either online or join the service in the St Michael’s Church. Further details are attached, including how to make a donation to the Children’s Society.
