12th November 2021
Today the children thoroughly enjoyed their Welly Walk, although some classes got a little wet. We would like to thank everyone who so kindly sponsored the children, with your donations going to further enhance our school library, continuing to increase our range of high quality books we can read with the children.
This week we also had a beautiful Remembrance Service on the playground. Children wrote and read thoughtful prayers and poems. Amber, in Oak Class, also played The Last Post so wonderfully.
Thank you for all your support during these challenging times. We are encouraged to see that we have no new positive Covid -19 cases with school as the source. We feel that half term really helped break that chain.
Following further advice from Public Health we will continue to not have whole school assemblies at the current time. We will also continue to monitor the situation and proceed cautiously with our activities.
Playground Collection – Acorn, Hazel and Birch Classes
KS1 and Reception classes are to be collected from the playground. You can access the playground (and leave school) via the St Michael’s Close entrance or the Preschool gate. Please can we ask that you wait in the following areas and remember to remain socially distanced:
Acorn (Reception) Parents – by the reception area gate
Hazel (Year 1) Parents – in front of the playpod
Birch (Year 2) Parents – to the right hand side of the stage
Arrangements for KS2 at start and end of the day continue as follows:
- Year 3, 4, and 5 use the main entrance
- Year 6 the slope to the Old School Room
Kennet House Day – Children In Need – Friday 19th November
Children can come to school in non-uniform, wearing yellow (like Pudsey and Kennet), sparkles or spots on Friday 19th November. There is no need for children to be head to toe in yellow/sparkles/spots, unless of course they want to be, a little of either is fine. In school children will learn a dance routine and we will have a mini games festival, including a game of ‘Where’s Pudsey?’ Please can we ask you to make a donation to Children In Need via ParentPay next week.
Next week we will be recognising Anti-Bullying Week. The theme this year is “one kind word”. On Friday, which is also the Kennet house day, we would like children to wear odd socks to help us acknowlege how different and unique we all are.
School Council Elections
We have had lots of fantastic School Council submissions this year and we can see that children have really considered their applications. Well done to all the children who applied and a big congratulations to these children who were successful:
Cherry (Year 3) – Florence, Evelyn and Giles
Elder (Year 4) – Cassia and Zachary
Rowan (Year 5) – Dennis, Lily and Charley
Oak (Year 6) – Emily and Zavier
PE – Hazel Class
Next week Hazel class will have PE on Tuesday, rather than Thursday. Children should arrive in school on Tuesday in PE kit and school uniform on Thursday, please.
Request from KS1 – Garden Material
Hazel and Birch class would love some bits from your gardens for potion making, as well as use in the mud kitchen. If you have any flowers that have gone to seed, herbs, cuttings, conkers, acorns, etc, they would love to use them in their busy time.
As a reminder, our Christmas holidays are not the same as Wiltshire Council’s and we break up on 21st December 2021, at 1pm and return on Thursday 6th January. Our term dates are displayed on our website and our school diary. You can add our school diary to your personal calanders following these instructions on our diary page.

Bag2school – Please have a rummage around your homes for spare clothes, bags, shoes, soft toys that can be donated and earn the school some money. Bag2School will be providing bags this year which can be collected from the school gates from Monday. Please bring your donations to school by 9am on Tuesday 30th November 2021 and drop them off by the front gate. Unfortunately, we are unable to store any bags before the collection date. The more we give, the more money is raised for the school.
Communications Survey – Following the launch of the Weduc app, we are now carrying out a review of school communications to ensure we are communicating effectively with all parents and carers.
