St Michael’s Weekly Post – 10th March 2023

10th March 2023

Cherry Class thoroughly enjoyed a trip to Oxenwood on Monday to bring their Stone Age learning to life.  The day was spent predominantly outside, repairing a hut with mud and straw, building shelters and meeting a Stone Age man who demonstrated how he built a fire and cooked fish.

On Thursday, a small group of children prepared and cooked a delicious meal for those who attend Willows after school club.  They also invited teachers to join.  The teachers (who we are sure were food critics in another life) described the meal as “amazing”.   A big well done to the chefs.

It was lovely to meet parents at the PTA coffee Morning this morning.  Thank you for joining us to enjoy a cuppa and some lovely cakes too.  Thank you also to our amazing PTA members who baked the cakes and gave up their time.

On Wednesday 15th and Thursday 16th March, children will be visiting a local farm in the village, to see lambing in full swing.  Children will be going to the farm throughout the school day, wearing their wellies they keep in school.  Please make sure your child has a coat with them in school, as always. If you would like to volunteer to help on the day, please email admin@stmichaelsaldbourne.co.uk to ensure the DBS process can be initiated.

Message from Ridgeway House Captains – House Day 17th March 2023

On Friday 17th March, Ridgeway will be holding a House Day to support Sports Relief and request your children come in a splash of red or dressed as their favourite sports person.  If you can, could you please donate £2 for non-uniform and activities on the day, either via Weduc or cash on the gate. All the money collected will go to the Sports Relief charity.

Strike Action 15th & 16th March 2023 – School open

As per Mrs Arkwright’s letter, several members of teaching staff will be taking part in the strike action on Wednesday 15th and Thursday 16th March 2023. However, following a risk assessment, school will remain open to all children. Although we have sufficient adults to ensure a safe level of provision, the children’s learning may look different on these two days.
