Parent Survey 2022: Summary of Results
A message from our Governors regarding the results of the Parent Survey.
Many thanks to those of you who completed this year’s Parent Survey. We are really pleased with the results which illustrate what a special place St Michael’s is. It is clear from the results that the majority of you are confident that your child is happy (94%) and safe (98%) at school.

We asked you to let us know what you consider to be the school’s main strengths. The following are just some of the responses received:
“Their passion for learning and inclusion for all children.”
“Caring, nurturing and putting the children first.”
“The staff are an incredible team who all work hard.”
“Good atmosphere, teachers clearly care, varied experience for the children.”
“You have certainly instilled a love of learning in my child.”
“There is no ‘square-peg-round-hole’ fixed thinking, each child feels cared for.”
“The focus on social development with equal importance to academic development.”
“Facilities and setting, lovely staff, progressive and exciting approach to learning.”
We also asked you for ideas on how we can make this an even better school. The following areas were highlighted by some parents as areas for improvement:
After-school clubs
A number of you mentioned after-school clubs. These are currently under review and the school will continue to work on introducing a range of activities. Whilst variety is important it is also important to source quality coaches and leaders. This is not always easy but it is something that is continually being reviewed.
Staffing
Some parents raised concerns about how often class teachers were out of their classrooms and the use of teaching assistants throughout the week. This school year has been our most challenging yet with regards to Covid and staffing levels. We are grateful to all staff at school who have gone above and beyond to maintain staffing levels and to provide consistent cover without resorting to external supply teachers. More details on classroom teaching structures will be sent out next term.
Food
The results of the food section of the survey will be discussed with Lataca and will help us to progress with the Healthy Schools Programme. We will send out further details on this in due course.
