Today, the whole school was immersed in the Bible story The Boy in the Temple, a story we have chosen to help us link our Christian values – honesty, respect and love – to “A Lifetime Love for Learning”. We began the day with a wonderful retelling of the story from the Open The Book team.
Everybody returned to their classrooms and spent the morning exploring the making the story making connections in their own ways. Year 5 and 6 wrote held a press conference, interviewing the key characters from the story to find out more about their feelings and emotions. They then wrote some diary entries from different perspectives. In the afternoon, Year 5 were shown how to make macramé love hearts while Year 6 explored different creative responses to the story.
Year 3 and 4 spent the day choreographing an expressive dance, conveying the emotions and different scenes found in the story.
Year 2 explored different scenarios deciding whether or not it showed learning. In the afternoon, they built bridges as they thought more about our values of honesty, love and respect.
Year 1 and Reception worked together to retell the story with lots of actions. They also had lots of amazing activities to try out linked to the story.
This afternoon’s Forest School group worked altogether to build a fantastic den for the whole school to enjoy.
At the end of the day, we all gathered together as a school to share our learning with one another and continued to make links between our Christian values, the Bible story and “A Lifetime Love for Learning”.
