We had a great time in the woods this week. The children were all very enthusiastic and focused in their own activities.
We had our first fire this term, we spent time discussing what a fire needs to burn and to emphasise this I put a candle in a jar and we watched what happened. Children helped collect only sticks that snapped loudly (showing they were dry) and we lit a fire to boil the water for our hot chocolate. Many children enjoyed lighting the cotton wool with the fire strikes.
Mrs Crossan (god’s eye master) helped the children to make their first god’s eyes and the children were very proud of the results. Other children enjoyed den making, swinging in the hammocks and looking after Olivia and Oliver (the owls).
