Christmas festivities were kicked off this week in school with the collection of a beautiful Christmas tree, which was kindly donated to us by Dobbies in Hungerford. The children have been busy practising their brass instruments and singing voices ahead of Saturday’s concert and getting ready for our Nativity on Thursday.

Thank you for all of your donations for the Bag2School collection, we raised £164 for the school.

We do hope to see as many of you as possible at the Christmas fair on Saturday – more details below.

No Forest School next week – Birch

There will be no Forest School for Birch class next week due to it clashing with the Nativity.

No Swimming next week – Elder/Selected Rowan & Oak

There will be no swimming class next week but they will be starting again after Christmas so please make ensure your children bring in their kit with them on Tuesday 9^th January.

Nativity – Thursday 14^th December

Our Nativity Performances in the Church will take place at 2pm and 5:30pm. We hope to see you all there – please see below for more information. We would like to inform you that whilst you are welcome to take photos of your children, we ask that you please do not post pictures with other children in on social media or send them on without their parent’s permission – thank you.

Celebration Assembly

Friday 8^th December will be the last celebration assembly of the term, restarting again in January.

Back by popular demand the Elfridges Christmas shop will be returning on Friday 15^th December. Please do remember to fill in the permission form by Monday 11^th December – further details below.

Festive Dates

Saturday 9^th December                  Christmas Fair. Join us at the St Michael’s School Christmas Fair on Saturday 9^th December from 12pm to 3:30pm for an afternoon of family fun. – Please see further detail below.

Saturday 9^th December                  Brass Ensemble & the School Choir (Year 2 upwards) to perform at Aldbourne Brass Band Concert at 4pm. Annually, we are invited to sing with the brass ensemble and the Aldbourne brass band at their Christmas concert. Please complete the following form if your child is able to participate. Children are to wear school uniform but please wrap up warm!

Thursday 14^th December        Our Nativity Performances in the Church – 2pm and 5:30pm.

All children are to arrive back at school (through the main entrance) at 5:10pm to get ready for their evening performance. Children are to then be collected from school after, at a time TBC.

The PTA will be raising money, selling drinks & mince pies.

Can we please ask that younger children attend the 2pm session if they wish to see the nativity, rather than the evening performance.

Friday 15^th December                    Back by popular demand the Elfridges Christmas shop will be returning. Please do remember to fill in the permission form by Monday 11^th December. This is run by the PTA and is a lovely experience where children can choose a gift for adult family members.

Tuesday 19^th December                 School Christmas Lunch. Please book this for your child on the Lataca ParentMail app. In the morning, children will be making hats out of newspaper. If you have any newspaper for recycling, we would love to have it in school.

Wednesday 20^th December          Pantomime Trip. We will be taking the whole school to the Newbury Corn Exchange to watch the performance of Beauty and the Beast. Children are to be in school uniform. Payment is available to pay via Weduc now.

Thursday 21^st December               Parent Workshop 8:45am – 11.30am & early finish for the last day of term 2, at 1pm. We would like to invite you all into school for a morning of festive fun with your children. Please head to the hall after drop off, where there will be a Christmas story acted out by some of your favourite teachers, followed by a creative activity. We will be making our own Christmas angels so please bring with you any materials you may wish to use. You can be as creative as you wish…..nothing is too small, big or glittery….  The parents session will be finished by 11:30am.

We realise that not all children will have a family member available   to join us.  We therefore ask if there are children without a family  member that you include them in your group.  Thank you.

We will be finishing our last day of term early at 1pm.

Join us at the St Michael’s School Christmas Fair on Saturday 9^th December from 12pm to 3:30pm for an afternoon of family fun. There will be craft activities and games to play, children’s Christmas jumper swap shop, stalls for Christmas shopping, Christmas trees (available to pre-order and collect on the day via Aldbourne Post Office) as well as festive food and drink. Father Christmas will also be joining us with presents for the children who visit him. Put the date in your diary, we would love to see you there.

If you are able to bake something for the cake stall we would be most grateful (no nuts, please).
