Weekly Post – 18th October 2024

St Michael’s Weekly Post

18th October 2024

Wow what a brilliant time our Year 6 class have had on their residential! They have spent the week in the Brecon Beacons at Plas Pencelli. It has been action packed from rock climbing, canoeing, mud slides to caving, and much more! Despite rainy conditions, the children have shown real determination, having a go at everything. They have demonstrated true team spirit by looking after and encouraging each other in really challenging conditions. Please check out the website to read more about their incredible trip.

OPAL Donations
We would be so appreciative of any donations to our OPAL play:

  • Small bikes
  • Scooters
  • Helmets
  • Skateboards
  • Surf/Body boards
  • Kitchen utensils/pots and pans/spoons/spatulas/trowels for sand and mud play
  • Pushchairs
  • Unwanted dressing up clothes

A reminder that if you have them, it is always useful for children to bring their waterproofs in at this time of year to ensure they are able to play on all areas of the field.

No Brass Lessons next week
There will be no individual brass lessons next week and these will resume after half term on Monday 4th November.

PTA AGM
The PTA will be holding their annual AGM in the school hall on Tuesday 22nd October at 7.30pm. They would love to see any parents who might be interested in helping out with the PTA. It could be in a small or large way and any ideas for fundraising are always welcome.

Sponsored Welly Walk – Wednesday 23rd October

On Wednesday 23rd October the children will be taking part in our annual Welly Walk around the school grounds for an afternoon, raising money for our school. It’s a fun event, with the whole school walking in their wellies (that children should all have in school or something suitable)… whatever the weather! After the walk the PTA will greet the children with a warming hot chocolate. Children will finish school at the usual time. Please see letter attached for more information on how to fundraise as well as via the following link.

Acorn and Oak Buddy Service – Tuesday 22nd October

As a reminder, Acorn and Oak parents are invited to join us at St Michael’s Church for our Buddy Service on Tuesday 22nd October at 9am, followed by coffee in the school hall. We’re so proud of our buddy system we offer at St Michael’s and this is a great opportunity to welcome new families and chat over coffee and cake. Younger siblings are most welcome – we will have a corner of toys for them!
