This week in Cherry Class!

What a super week we’ve had in Cherry Class! One of the highlights has to be the tree-planting on Tuesday. The rain was pouring down but we embraced the weather, put our welly boots on and headed to the field to plant the whips (the official term for baby trees)!

It was such a privilege to plant these new trees, which will benefit not only our time here at St Michael’s but also generations to come; we learnt that trees are fully grown at around 25 years old.

In art, we have been looking at the work of textile artists Alice Kettle and Hannah Rae. We spent our lesson this week looking really closely at the finer details and techniques applied to their work. The children then used their own sketchbooks to explore colours, shapes and mark-making, taking inspiration from both artists to create their own designs and expressions.
