Rowan and Oak – Historic Village Tour

This afternoon Rowan and Oak classes were treated to an amazing guided history tour of the village courtesy of the incredible volunteers from the Aldbourne Heritage Group. The children loved getting up close and personal with Aldbourne’s past and having the chance appreciate the enormous changes that have happened to our beautiful village.

To mention only a few highlights, the children now know the locations of the 5 pubs that used to be here, the old Wash House, where Aldbourne’s famous bells were made and even the origin of ‘The Butts’ (named after the targets used by medieval archers who practiced on what is now Palmer’s Field).

We are so very grateful to our amazing friends at the Heritage Group for making this afternoon possible!
