What an amazing day we had at Ufton Court learning all about the Vikings! We all met in the longhouse before heading to the oceans in our longboat, where we went on raids all over the world, from Arabia to Greenland. We also learnt to fight like a Viking, using swords, axes and shields and how a shield wall was so important for protection. After lunch, battle commenced! We learnt the story of the struggle between Vikings and Anglo-Saxon Wessex, led most famously by Alfred the Great. We learnt how Alfred saw off the Vikings (for a time at least) and worked towards the unification of England. What an amazing day, Rowan and Oak!
