Over the last couple of weeks we have been immersed in all things poetry and pop art!
We started by investigating the lyrics of The Beatles and we used these lyrics to create some amazing ‘black out poetry!’ (see the image of our classroom display for the final versions!)
Next we learnt about pop art – finding out what it is and who some of the most famous pop artists are. We then spent time listening to The Beatles songs whilst trying out different pop art styles in our sketch books. After that, we took inspiration from Andy Warhol’s Marilyn Monroe portraits to create our own portraits of our favourite Great Briton.
Finally, we spent an English lesson outside, taking in the sights and sounds of the great outdoors to help us develop our poetic language in preparation for writing poems about our local environment – it is always such a wonderful experience to be outside writing and sketching…
