Elder Class Explore Pneumatics and Mechanisms!

This term in Design and Technology, Elder Class have been investigating Mechanisms and Pneumatics. We’ve been learning how pneumatic devices use the power of compressed air to make objects move and how this clever science can be used to operate motors and mechanical parts.

To put our learning into action, we got hands-on with balloons, syringes, and bottles to explore how air pressure works. It was fascinating to see how air could be used to create movement!

Using what we had discovered, we then designed and made our very own moving linkages powered by pneumatics. There was plenty of problem solving involved as we experimented and refined our designs, but everyone persevered and created some fantastic working models.

Well done, Elder Class engineers!
