Elder Class Create Patterns!

This term in Art, we have been exploring patterns!

We have been investigating the work of artist Gillian Adair McFarland, who creates delicate drawings that can be experienced through touch, and Rachel Parker, who designs beautiful surface patterns on textiles. Inspired by their work, we had a go at creating our own repeated patterns.

First, we cut out shapes from different coloured paper and arranged them into a design. We then stuck the shapes onto a larger piece of paper before cutting the paper into four sections and rearranging them to create new and interesting patterns.

It was exciting to see how our designs changed when the pieces were moved around! We look forward to exploring even more patterns next week.
