The school council are proud to announce that St. Michael’s have achieved our Eco-Schools Bronze Award. In order to get to this point, the School Council have carried out an environmental survey around the school which looked at 10 areas: transport, biodiversity, global citizenship, marine, schools grounds, healthy living, water, energy, waste and litter.
The survey found that we scored lowest on litter, energy and water. So an action plan was formed. As the School Council told Celebration Assembly last Friday, Mrs Arkwright and the teachers have been asked if we can trial an hour a day without lights on, using laptops or interactive white boards. The School Council are in the process of creating posters to encourage using less water and we are looking forward to a “big school tidy” tomorrow afternoon!
