Day 4: Yet another epic adventure!

Today has been one epic adventure. We went wondering along the coastal path, taking in the amazing scenery and local history…

We followed in the footsteps of the notorious local smugglers and learnt lots about the wonderful landscape…

This is ‘devils chimney,’ a narrow, death-defying crevice carved in the rock face which became a secret passageway for smugglers…

Luckily for us, steps have been built in recent years to help adventurers navigate their way through…

Upon reaching the top, we were challenged to climb Nansen’s Hill, the highest point on the island. Most accepted the challenge and Zach ran it – getting into East Dene’s hall of fame!

Then it was back along the coastal path to Shanklin where we had lunch and played a spot of cricket in the park…

Soon, we headed to the beach, enjoying the beautiful weather with a lovely ice cream!

After that, we watched the incoming tide before it was time to get into our wetsuits and head out into the surf!

Safety first…

Finally it was back to base for dinner and a late-night campfire and sing-sing before bed.

Whilst preparing the fire Connor found a lovely little creature which he safely returned to the woods…
