Hazel and Birch Trip to Newbury

Hazel and Birch Class had a wonderful trip to Newbury today to experience the canal and a bit of operetta!

We were looked after by the Kennet and Avon Canal Trust, who taught us all about water safety as well as explaining how and why canals were made. We then boarded the beautiful Jubilee boat and experienced a working lock—lots of fun as we worked out the steps we needed to follow in order to continue our journey.

Afterwards, we enjoyed a sunnier-than-expected lunch in Victoria Park, followed by a quick play in the brilliant playground before heading to Corn Exchange.

We had tickets through the Newbury Spring Festival for a Gilbert and Sullivan workshop, where the children were treated to some brilliant singing, lots of audience participation and some real tongue twisters!

Such a fabulous day!
