Welcome to Term 4!  We hope you have had a restful break as Term 4 is already in full swing.  Today the remaining half of Cherry Class have commenced their first cornet lesson with Mrs Lomas and Ms Rowe.  It is wonderful to see the children familiarising themselves with the instrument in preparation for their weekly lesson.

Children from all classes are excited to be attending tonight’s PTA disco.  We do hope the children attending enjoy themselves.

NEU Strike Day – 2^nd March 2023 – School will be OPEN

The 2^nd March 2023 is a planned NEU Strike Day.  We plan for our school to be open to all pupils.

POETRY SLAM 2023!

It is that time of the year when the classrooms and corridors of school will be filled with the sound of poetry being performed by all children! We will be holding our annual ‘Poetry Slam’ on World Book Day (Thursday 2^nd March) and we are wholeheartedly encouraging all children to enter be it individually, in pairs or small groups.

It would be great if children could spend some time finding or even writing a poem. It could be fun or serious, it might rhyme but it might not. It could be a modern poem or a classic. For our younger poets it could be a well-known nursery rhyme or poem they are familiar with… the choice is theirs! (Class teachers will support children in finding poems if you do not have time next week).

As usual, children will perform their chosen poem in class (teachers will tell their children the date for this) and those with the most votes will go through to the poetry slam final on World Book Day!

Each year group will also learn and perform a whole-class poem in the Poetry Slam final too!

The Poetry Slam is always a real highlight of the school year so we really hope you will encourage your child will to get involved and have great fun immersed in poetry!

World Book Day – Thursday 2^nd March 2023

On Thursday, we will be celebrating World Book Day in school with a number of activities, including the Poetry Slam.  On the day, children are welcome to bring with them a teddy and their slippers/cosy socks, ready to snuggle up and enjoy some amazing books.

PE and Forest School Days

There has been an update to Hazel Class’s PE Day.  PE and Forest School days for Term 4 are as follows:

ELSA Forest School (for those invited) will take place on a Thursday afternoon.

Reminder – Bible Explorers Lunchtime Club – Tuesday 12:30pm – 1pm

Children in Year 2 up to and including Year 4 are invited to attend the Bible Explorers Lunchtime Club in school on Tuesdays.  If your child would like to attend please can they let their teacher know. Please find further detail attached.
