3rd March 2023
Books, books and more books! To celebrate World Book Day, yesterday, the children have immersed themselves in all things books. We enjoyed an amazing Poetry Slam. Well done to all those who worked on individual and small group poems and a huge congratulations to the winners. The children have also enjoyed buddying up with other classes to appreciate the favourite books of others.
Today, children were enthralled in poetry workshops, led by Alex Wharton, author of Daydreams and Jellybeans. We would like to thank Aldbourne Children’s Book Group for organising this and the fantastic book swap this afternoon.
Willows celebrated St David’s Day earlier this week. They enjoyed Welsh Cakes and coloured in beautiful daffodil pictures.
Forest School – Birch Class
Next week, Birch Class will be visiting the Forest on Tuesday, rather than Monday, as a one off. Please send children to school in Forest School clothes on Tuesday 7th March.
Parents Coffee Morning
We would like to welcome parents, along with younger siblings, to join the PTA for a cup of tea or coffee after school drop off (8:45am) on Friday 10th March, in the hall. It will be a great opportunity to meet other parents and have a catch up.
Volunteer
We are looking for a volunteer to join a small group of children, along with a member of staff, attending horse-riding lessons on Monday afternoons. If you, or someone you know, are able to join this small group, it will be greatly appreciated. Please email admin@stmichaelsaldbourne.co.uk if you are able to help.
Messages from the PTA:
Disco: It was wonderful to see so many happy children in their favourite outfits at the school disco on Friday. We would like to thank the staff who supervised for really making the disco such an enjoyable event. As well as offering the children the opportunity to attend the disco we also raised nearly £650 for the school! We were able to raise so much money thanks to Ed Pope who so generously donated his time and disco equipment as well as Liz Nestor who kindly donated the glow paint. Thank you all so much!
Summer Fair: This year we have chosen to hold our Summer Fair on a Friday after school. We would love some volunteers to act as a subgroup to organise this specific event. If you are able to help please email aldbournepta@gmail.com.
