Saving lives

Rowan class has a fantastic morning learning all about the Wiltshire Air ambulance service.  We started by finding out when they might be needed and then quickly moved onto how to call for help, we were surprised to hear that in one case a three year old had to call the emergency services to get help for his parent and he did it brilliantly!

We than moved onto learning about what to do if a person stops breathing, and we got to practice on the resuscitation dummies, but that wasn’t all, we even got to consider how to do chest compressions on a baby and practice that too, and all to the tune of Staying Alive!

We also covered choking, and how to get anyone into the recovery position.  We all feel a lot more reassured now that if there is an emergency we would be able to help.
