St Michael’s Weekly Post
19th September 2025
It was Rowan’s turn this week to head off on another amazing residential. On Wednesday they arrived at Braeside Education Centre for two nights. Their trip has been jammed packed – including a morning canoeing and also trying out the ‘leap of faith’ being suspended high in the air! They have also tried their hands at climbing walls and blindfolded nightline courses. The children have all shown real perseverance and determination when tackling the different activities and most of all, they have had so much fun. We can’t wait to hear all about it upon their return.
School meal taster day – Thursday 2nd October
We will be holding a school meal taster day for Acorn, Hazel and Birch Classes on Thursday 2nd October. This will be a great opportunity for all children to try a school lunch, if they don’t usually. Children would be welcome to bring their own packed lunch with them if they don’t think they will enjoy the lunch. We are really fortunate that we have amazing kitchen staff and various meal options, including baked potatoes and sandwiches, along with the main hot meal each day. Our school menu can be viewed on our website. We will book all children who haven’t already ordered through Lataca a main meal. You can of course opt out by emailing admin@stmichaelsaldbourne.co.uk.
Sponsored Welly Walk – Wednesday 22nd October
On Wednesday 22nd October the children will be taking part in our annual Welly Walk around the school grounds for an afternoon, raising money for our school. It’s a fun event, with the whole school walking in their wellies (that children should all have in school or something suitable)……whatever the weather! After the walk the PTA will greet the children with a warming hot chocolate. Children will finish school at the usual time. More information on how to fundraise to follow.

Story: Guinness World Records is celebrating its 70th anniversary this year. To mark the occasion, it’s encouraging people to have a go at some unclaimed records!

Please email with any questions: admin@stmichaelsaldbourne.co.uk. Message from St Michael’s Church Aldbourne:
Discovery Day – Saturday 4th October
As well as our Church being a ship to carry us through the journeys – sometimes stormy – of life, Aldbourne has a surprising number of maritime connections: come and discover these at Discovery Day on Saturday 4th October, through displays and trails. Lots of things to see and do at Discovery Day – we’re looking forward to helping you to navigate them.
