This year our service to welcome the reception children into our St Michael’s family could not take place in church, but we were not going to let that stop their very special moment.
In the hall, the Year 6 buddies shared a story called “Only One You” by Linda Kranz and then presented the children with their own butterfly which they had carefully made.
(a version of the story can be found here https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vu9capmEY5I)
The butterfly is a very important symbol for us at St Michael’s. It represents the children flourishing in school through our core values of respect, honesty and love to develop a lifetime love for learning.
Our school prayer, which the children have re-written, explains it so well.
Dear God
This is our school
Let peace live here
Let the rooms be full of happiness
Let us show respect, honesty and love
Let the children flourish like butterflies
To develop a lifetime love for learning
Amen
