Rowan Class: London Trip!

Last week Year 5 visited London as part of our geography work… As we journeyed into London, we focused on the changing landscape, traffic, population and density of buildings. When we arrived, our first port of call was exploring Trafalgar Square before walking down The Mall via Admiralty Arch to Buckingham Palace. Along the way we stopped several times to watch and wave as soldiers marched and played their instruments before we took the obligatory photo outside the palace. After our picnic at St. James’ park, we managed to stop and chat to two Queen’s Guards before being allocated a private spot to watch the Changing of the Guard! Next we wandered down Whitehall, stopping at the Cenotaph and Down Street for a quick chat before arriving at the Houses of Parliament. We spent time on Westminster Bridge, discussing the use of the river, how the Thames changes as it makes its way to London and the impact of the river on the economy. Finally, we hopped back on the coach outside Parliament after a quick selfie with Andrew Marr!
