This week in Year 3, we made our very own levers. We did this by using a book for the load; a glue stick for the fulcrum; a piece of wood for the lever and for the effort we pushed down on the piece of wood. We learnt that the book was easier to lift when we made a longer lever and the effort was further away from the fulcrum.
Despite the rain, we had lots of fun investigating levers outside. From experimenting with the levers in the wheelbarrow and a basketball net, we discovered that levers make it easier to move heavy loads.
