Hazel Class enjoyed a fantastic walk around the village this week with the Aldbourne Heritage Group, learning all about the Great Fire of Aldbourne. Despite a soggy start, the sun soon came out, allowing us to explore several locations around the village and discover how the fire started, spread and affected village life in the years that followed.
The children were fascinated to learn about this important part of Aldbourne’s history and particularly enjoyed trying on the fireman’s helmet when we returned to the church!
