What an amazing day Year 3 have had!
We set of to The Corinium Museum to explore the collection which consists of the highly significant finds from the Roman town of Corinium, today known as Cirencester. The children explored the exceptional interactive displays and they discovered thousands of objects on display including Roman mosaics.
At the beginning of the day the children explored Roman life through a series of activities. They rotated 4 tables, getting hands-on with mosaic making, Roman games, food and pottery and Roman clothing. This session bought Roman Britain to life in a practical way and the children loved it!
Once we were finished in the Museum, we headed towards the Amphitheatre. As soon as we reached the top, the children were blown away. All we could hear were gasps! It used to hold 8000 people and was located just outside Corinium’s walls during the Roman times. We even witnessed a fabulous gladiator battle.
