Superb science!

Hazel and Birch classes have had a wonderful afternoon investigating the properties of different materials by conducting some science experiments.  It was fantastic to welcome so many parents, carers and grandparents into school to work with us all.

Some wonderful problem solving took place as we tried to stretch a curly wurly into the longest possible length!  The world record is over 4 metres but one of our team managed about 1.3 metres – not a bad effort!

We then challenged the chidlren (and adults!) to create a sturdy and waterproof roof for our lego houses and to make sure they could withstand the rain created by pippettes.

Finally, they had to try and work out which was the best paper towel – did it need to be absorbant and strong or was one more important than the other? Some great tests were carried out and lots of possibilities considered.

Thank you so much to all of the adults who joined us to make the afternoon such a success.
