Christmas decorations and food critics in Year 6

What a busy week in Year 6! It’s been a tough one too: we had our first go at a full run of SATs tests, getting a flavour of what to expect when we do them for real in May. All of the adults are so proud of the effort put into completing them this week!

It’s not all been quite so challenging though! On Monday, we shared an afternoon with our buddies in Reception. First of all, we decorated the Christmas tree standing proudly by the main entrance, helping the children in Reception to place baubles and beads all over the many branches. It looks beautiful! We returned to Year 6’s classroom to play some games, eat biscuits and drink hot chocolate before finishing the day reading some stories.

This afternoon, our attention turned to D & T. We will be cooking chili con carne as part of our Mayan Day next week, so today, we tested and evaluated an existing recipe. Inspired by critics and chefs such as Gordan Ramsay and Masterchef’s Greg Wallace, the children were tough critics but left ready to create their own recipes on Tuesday. Yum!
