Awesome Learning in Rowan Class!

We’ve had a busy week in Rowan Class! On Thursday, we read the final chapter of Beowulf where he battles the death-dragon.  We used excerpts from this chapter during our reading fluency lessons and the children selected language/quotes from the text to help them create super-powerful images. This week we also completed our Grendel portraits using some of the skills we have been developing in art. In history, we’ve been investigating the Anglo-Saxon justice system. As part of the lesson, children were given brief descriptions of various Saxon punishments and they had to act them out for others to guess what it was! We had great fun! Resilience has been the focus of our PSHE lessons and we explored overcoming barriers by challenging children to navigate an obstacle course on the fort whilst being blindfolded – it was just lovely to watch all the children thoughtfully supporting each other with huge smiles on their faces! Oh, and we also enjoyed an impromptu frog-watching session after lunch today – our school pond is full of life!
