John from the Aldbourne Heritage Group came to visit us this week and he told us all about the abandoned village of Snap – which is just up the road from our village! John began the session with a video clip of a BBC quiz where Snap was the answer to a question! He then showed us some amazing photographs, sketches and other artefacts that help piece together what life was like in Snap. Next we looked at census data which helped us to find out about the sharp decline in numbers of people living in Snap before we explored some of the reasons why people stopped living in Snap and why it became an abandoned village.
