Acorn Class Trip to Roves Farm

What an exciting day we had on our class trip to Roves Farm!

We started the morning with a bumpy tractor ride around the farm, spotting sheep, crops, woodland, and lots of butterflies, we kept our eyes out for dragonflies, too!

Our first stop was a fun Forest School activity. We hopped off the trailer and got busy building a house for a mouse, (or even “a rat flat!”) using sticks, grass, acorn shells and other natural materials we found nearby. The children worked so well together, making sure their mice would have somewhere comfortable to sleep, a place to sit, and even gardens and garages! We were also lucky enough to see a grass snake, which Ricky carefully picked up to show us.

Back on the trailer, we fed the pigs before enjoying our picnic lunch in the barn.

In the afternoon, we went on a minibeast hunt, then listened to The Very Hungry Caterpillar (Ricky’s version!) We finished the day in the petting barn, stroking rabbits and guinea pigs, feeding the goats, and visiting the piglets.

A big thank you to the lovely Ricky, who looked after us all day and made sure we had the best time!
