On Thursday it was our first trip to the forest. The children had an amazing time, creating sandstorms, finding mystery maps, relaxing in the hammocks and making gravy and gruffalo pie in the mud kitchen. At one point, even pterodactyls joined us!
Forest school allows children to take risks and attempt new challenges they would not face in a classroom. Children are free to explore and manipulate the environment around them using all of their senses; they are given the chance to get mucky and wet! Forest school promotes all aspects of children’s development; it allows children to be physically active, work collaboratively with others and enjoy the sense of space around them. Children become physically fitter, and emotionally more resilient. We do welcome parents in the forest, do let us know if you would like to join us!
