St. Michael’s Weekly Post – For Week Beginning 6th December 2019

6th December 2019

PTA Christmas Fair at St Michael’s School

Saturday 7th December 11.30am to 1.30pm

Meet Santa, enjoy lots of games and prizes, food and drinks

Raffle prizes include Roves Farm tickets, £50 Boden voucher, Cotswold Wildlife Park tickets, Jungle Kingdom Tickets and much more!

The PTA will be selling tickets on the playground after school on Friday.

If you can make some cakes, please bring them into school on Friday or on the day from 9am.

Thank you for your support and hope to see you there!

Year 5 and 6 Mayan Day:  Next Thursday we will be holding a Mayan themed day for Years 5 and 6. On the day we will bring together all our learning from terms 1 and 2 having a focus on the food the ancient Maya ate, the role of astronomy in their civilisation and ceremonies they took part in.

For the day it would be brilliant if children could create their own headdress using a strip of card and attaching things such as feathers and strips of paper or card to it.  In terms of Mayan attire, it would be great if children could adapt or re-use their previous Ancient Greek or Ancient Egypt costumes, otherwise they could come to school wearing bright colours.

We can’t wait to immerse ourselves in all things Maya!

If you have any queries, please don’t hesitate to ask Mr Jarvis and Mr Pavey

Message from The School Council:  Thank you to everyone who provided chocolate oranges/selection boxes. The food bank were thrilled with how many we had collected.

Parent Workshop (20th December 2019):  Each year we invite you to come along to this fun workshop from 9am to 11am.  The Teachers share a story, and the children and adults solve the problem in the workshop.   This year the workshop will be to make an Angel.  Please come along with siblings, grandparents, aunties, uncles and carers, bring any craft materials you may wish to use to make your Angel and join us for a fun morning!

Cake Sale:  On Friday 13th December Liam Munday will be holding a cake sale after school to raise money for Dorothy Hospice at Winsley who looked after his Grandad.  Come along and support such a great cause.

Whole School trip to the Wyvern Theatre:  On the 18th December the whole school will be travelling to the Wyvern Theatre to see Sleeping Beauty.  Please check your ParentPay account to give consent for your child to attend.
